Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in patients with diabetes. Which diet protects from Heart Attack? In years past the American Heart Association glorified Sugary Cereals with their (paid) check mark of approval. They stopped doing that and in their latest Scientific Statement they now list Low-Carb and Very-Low-Carb as viable options to improve heart health and protect from a heart attack. A new scientific paper by the American Heart Association based on several studies on diet indicates that diets LOW in CARBOHYDRATES are actually better for adults with Type II Diabetes. This is largely at odds which has been put forth for decades  by the AHA, NIH and the American Diabetes Association.
